Funfetti Hearts
I think this might be one of my favourite blankets I’ve ever made… partly because it’s cute, but mostly because it feels a little bit ridiculous in the best possible way. Tiny crochet hearts everywhere? Yes please.
I had seen a few different crochet heart blanket designs floating around for a while, and when I dyed my Funfetti yarn I immediately thought it would be perfect for something bright, playful and full of hearts. I ended up combining a few different elements and techniques from those blankets to create these little heart squares.
The individual hearts work up surprisingly quickly, which makes this a really fun project to pick up when you’ve only got a little bit of crochet time.
One thing that really helped when making these was starting each round from the very centre top of the heart. It keeps the shaping nice and even and helps the hearts stay much more symmetrical as they grow.
In this post, I’ll show you how to make the hearts themselves. In the next post, I’ll walk you through how I turn them into squares, and after that, I’ll share how I joined everything together to create the final blanket.
If you’re anything like me, once you make one heart… you’ll probably keep going. 💛

Cut your yarn and weave in your ends! Trust me... weave those ends in now each time you finish a heart and it will make it a lot easier. Doing it this way means when you finish your blanket, you will only have one end to weave in. You will thank yourself later!
Once you’ve made a few hearts, you’ll really start to see the blanket coming to life. I found these incredibly addictive to make… the kind of project where you say “just one more” and suddenly you’ve made ten.
In my next post, I’ll show you exactly how I turn each heart into a square so they can all fit together neatly into the blanket.
And seriously… weave in your ends as you go. Future you will be very grateful! 😂
